Jonathan Blau, M.D. is board certified in physical medicine and rehab, pain medicine and electromyography. Dr. Blau specializes in chronic pain management and interventional spine procedures. His interests include neck, back, and myofacial pain as well as spine and musculoskeletal disorders.

Degrees and Education
Dr. Blau received his medical degree (M.D.) in 1989 from the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He received his undergraduate degree in History at the University of California, Santa Cruz, California in 1975 and another undergraduate degree in Zoology at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Blau had his Preliminary Medical Internship from 1989 – 1990 at St. Mary’s Hospital, San Francisco, California. Dr. Blau did his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Washington DC, from 1990 – 1993. He became a fellow of the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 1996. Dr. Blau has been board certified in pain medicine since 1996.

Awards and Appointments
Dr. Blau’s honors from the University of Wisconsin include Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and the Dean’s Lists. He was awarded a Summer Research Scholarship in 1987 from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Jonathan has memberships on Hospital Staffs at the Baylor Scott & White Texas Spine & Joint Hospital, the East Texas Medical Center, the Mother Frances Hospital, the Health South Rehabilitation Hospital and the East Texas Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Blau also has several memberships in medical societies that include the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine American Medical Association, the North American Spine Society, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation, International Spine Injection Society, Smith County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and the Texas Pain Association. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Blau’s licensure is from the state of Texas.

Papers and Presentations
Jonathan Blau, M.D. has given numerous community lectures regarding spine and musculoskeletal disorders including “Neck, Back, and Myofacial Pain”, “Components and Management of Chronic Pain”, “Muscular Distrophies”, “Neurogenic Bladder”, and “Rehabilitation of Peripheral Vascular Disease”. His research is focused on the prophylactic use of antibiotics in the prevention of Ilizarov pin site infections.
