Paul W. Detwiler, M.D., is Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Dr. Detwiler specializes in brain, spinal and peripheral nerve surgery. His interests include spinal surgery (minimally invasive and stabilization), general neurosurgery, aneurysms, AVMs, spinal surgery, pituitary and other skull base tumors, and stereotactic radiosurgery.

Degrees and Education
Dr. Detwiler earned his medical degree (M.D.) from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his general surgery internship at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix and his neurosurgical residency at the Barrow Neurosurgical Institute in Phoenix. In addition, he completed two fellowships: complex spine surgery under Dr. Volker K.H. Sonntag, and cerebrovascular and skull base tumor surgery under Dr. Robert Spetzler. Premedical education included a B.S. in chemical engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia and a M.S. in chemical (biomedical) engineering from Columbia University in New York. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. Clinical interests include general neurosurgery, aneurysms, AVMs, spinal surgery (minimally invasive and stabilization), pituitary and other skull tumors, and stereotactic radiosurgery (Cyberknife). Dr. Detwiler began his affiliation with Tyler Neurosurgical Associates in July 2000.
